Welcome to POGS 2011 Midyear Convention

The Philippine Obstetrical and Gynecological Society (POGS) has been a significant contributor to public health in the country. This is not only anchored on its contribution to the improvement of the reproductive health of women but of giving them the capacity to become better keepers of the health of the next generation as well as productive citizens thereby becoming a significant factor in national development and unity.

The Society initiates the regular midyear convention as one way for its members to renew their commitment to public health while strengthening the bond among its members beyond the geographical and cultural divide. The 2011 Midyear Convention is hosted by the Northern Mindanao Chapter and is scheduled on April 26-28, 2011.

The theme, “POGS Transcending Culture and Tradition,” underscores the Society’s vision to create a healthy nation that is free from dissension. What better laboratory to use than the Mindanao experience as seen from the significant strides achieved in providing reproductive health services to all regardless of cultural and religious beliefs.

Under the leadership of the convention chair, Dr. Reynaldo Chu, the organizing committee has meticulously designed and crafted a program that will ensure vigorous deliberations in confronting current issues in women’s reproductive health.

At the same time, an exciting moment is awaiting the delegates. As part of the event, the members of POGS Northern Mindanao Chapter will offer our colleagues from other regions the much needed respite from the stress of the practice and lead to unparalleled adventure which will keep delegates in tune with nature. As our contribution to cultural appreciation and physical renewal, we invite you to experience the thrill and adventure of Region 10’s signature attractions.

As Regional Director of the Northern Mindanao Chapter of POGS, it is my honor and privilege to welcome all delegates to this momentous and exhilarating occasion in Cagayan de Oro City and at the same time invite you to witness our contribution to the ongoing efforts to promote women’s reproductive health.
